Faster websites, based on measurements

We measure first, prioritise next and only make changes that make sense for your site, whether it runs on Shopify, WordPress, WooCommerce or something else. We are honest about what we can fix ourselves and what depends on the platform, theme, plugins, hosting or other providers.

What we review

For each area, we explain whether we can make the improvement directly or whether it depends on the platform, theme, plugins, hosting or a decision from you.

  • Partly within our controlTheme, code and platform

How your site loads CSS and JavaScript, and whether it contains unused or duplicate code. Older or heavily customised themes can impose limits.

  • Partly within our controlPage speed and Core Web Vitals

We measure LCP, INP and CLS across the main page types. Google’s field data requires a certain amount of traffic.

  • Depends on the setupHosting and server

Response times, caching and compression. This requires hosting access, and some changes can only be made by the hosting provider. Shopify stores are always hosted by Shopify.

  • We implement this directlyMobile usability

Buttons, readability, navigation, filters and forms on small screens.

  • We implement this directlyPage structure and content

Whether pricing, benefits, delivery and contact information are easy to find on product, service and landing pages.

  • Partly within our controlPlugins, apps and scripts

Which plugins, apps and scripts are loaded, and whether they are still used. We can remove, replace or defer them, but cannot rebuild them.

  • Partly within our controlFriction in purchasing and enquiries

Small obstacles in the cart, forms and shipping information. Hosted checkouts such as Shopify’s can only be customised within the platform’s limits.

  • We implement this directlyTechnical SEO foundations

Titles, headings, structured data, alt text and redirects. Google rankings cannot be guaranteed.

How optimisation works

  1. Measurement

We measure the key page types and document where time is lost and friction occurs.

  2. Prioritisation

You receive a list with expected impact, effort and dependencies. You choose what we take forward.

  3. Implementation

We work in a copy or test environment, so your live site is not affected during the process.

  4. Follow-up

After release, we measure again and send a brief report on what has changed.

Straight answers about optimisation

Can you guarantee a particular PageSpeed Insights score?

No. The score depends on the platform, theme, plugins and apps, content and hosting, and varies from one measurement to the next. Instead, we promise to document the starting point, explain what affects it and show the impact of our changes.

Do we need to remove plugins or apps?

Not necessarily. We assess what each one contributes and its impact on speed. You decide what to keep, replace or remove.

Will optimisation affect our live site?

Not before you approve it. We work in a copy or test environment and only publish once the changes have been tested.

Do we need to move our website to you?

No. We optimise it where it is hosted. Read about hosting and maintenance if you also need ongoing care.
